We are so thankful that yesterdays surgery went well and was right on time. Thank you to all of you that prayed for Maleena and our family, thought of us and/ or supported us through words of encouragement, etc. We are so incredibly grateful for the support network that we have (such a gift). It was a tough couple of days, so glad to be on this side of things. This afternoon we were discharged from the hospital to go back to the Ronald McDonald House.
The doctors were able to puncture the ureteroceal (cyst) that was preventing Maleena from being able to fully empty her bladder and therefore causing her bladder, ureters and kidneys to become more dilated. We have another appointment this coming week but are hopeful that we can head back home to Oliver very soon. We will have to come back to Children’s hospital in 4-6 weeks for a follow up appointment. Maleena will need to be monitored regularly throughout the coming year through regular appointments in Vancouver. The doctors don’t ever want to operate too soon (due to her age and size) but want to be careful not to let things become dangerous. We don’t know what will happen next for our little girl since everything depends on how well her kidneys are able to function. Therefore we’re unsure what Maleena’s second surgery will be or when it will happen, just going to continue to take this all one day at a time. God is good.
