These photos are of my dear friend Chelsea and her littlest, sweet Bryce. Chelsea and I have been friends for a year now and I just can’t imagine life in Oliver without her…truly. I love that I can randomly drop by her home unannounced, I love the fact that our girls adore each other, I love our weekly Scouts coffee dates and most of all, I love her no conditions acceptance and loving friendship. She is a true gem and I am so beyond thankful for her. Chelsea, I hope that you love these images as much as I do. You and Bryce are beauties inside and out. I love how these images capture the joy , connection and love between you and Bryce!. These are the kinds of everyday moments that inspire my heart and remind me why I love photography so much. And yes, I stole your tattoo quote for the title, I love how it’s visible in some of the images, perfect!
I took these photos for my November photo challenge. Yes, I know that it’s December already, but I’ve been busy with other things and had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do. Not to mention that I found this challenge, well….challenging. The image set had to show connection, have two or more people, include a detail image, capture emotion, have a feeling of spontaneity and be processed in black and white. This was tricky for me. I tend to be very hard on myself when it comes to following “rules.” The black and white processing for a set of images was a major hang up for me. Quality black and white images are so… much more than just processing images in black and white. There really are requirements to black and white images that make strong images. Flat outdoor light was a no go, holiday/ Christmas images didn’t work for me since colour is almost always a part of the story (therefore no black and white for me), there has to be some good contrast happening and emotion is essential. I also didn’t want fully spontaneous images since one of the objectives of the challenges is to create a plan and have a clear goal on what you would like to create. Yes, I’m picky. Oh well, at least I follow through eventually, right?!? Anyways, I obviously included lots of images that I wouldn’t submit to the challenge group, but ones that I loved and wanted to share here. I also love colour processing (and the colours of the bedding and clothing), and I couldn’t just process everything in black and white just because. Thanks for a fun morning Chelsea!
