Pumpkin Carving

This afternoon after we dropped my mom off at the bus depot in Penticton, we came home and carved our jack o lanterns.  I LOVE traditions and this is one of many  family traditions that I hope to keep.  We had planned to do it yesterday but ran out of time.  David is on the evening shift so he had to work as well.  So, it was just me and the kiddos.  Amazingly, it went really well.  They looked on Google images for jack o lantern faces and I did the best I could to carve them.  Lauren pretty much just ate the pumpkin guts every chance she got.  Seriously, she just couldn’t stop putting the stuff into her mouth. She loves raw pumpkin and squash, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised.  It was a lovely fall day and there is a table on our back porch, so it just made sense to keep the mess outside (and it was prettier).

While we were busy carving our pumpkins we had our second batch (first one was yesterday) of caramel corn in the oven.  We LOVE this stuff!  The smell, the taste, just reminds me of all the goodness of fall.  By the time we were done carving, it was all ready to eat.  Yum!

After dinner, bath and snack we had to light up our pumpkins to see how they looked in the dark.  Calvin wanted a mean looking pumpkin, he seemed pleased with what he got.

All in all, a good day!
